Delete PDF pages limits and edge cases
- At least one page must remain. The Delete Pages button is disabled if your selection covers every page.
- Deleted pages are unlinked from the document's page list, but PDFBell does not rewrite the file to purge their data, so the removed pages' underlying objects can still be physically present in the saved file. Do not rely on Delete PDF Pages to redact sensitive content; Extract PDF Pages builds a new file from only the pages you keep.
- The range field accepts page numbers and ranges separated by commas, such as "2, 5-7". A page number beyond the last page is rejected.
- The thumbnail grid renders one page at a time, so a long document's grid fills in gradually and a very long PDF uses more memory.
- A PDF that needs a password to open is rejected. A PDF that opens without a password but carries editing restrictions (a permissions password) is also refused with a clear message, because PDFBell cannot decrypt files and the result would come out blank or unreadable; remove the restriction in the app that created it, then try again.

Can I select a range of pages instead of clicking each one?
Yes. Type a range like "2, 5-7" into the page range field and add it to your selection in one step, then keep clicking individual thumbnails to fine-tune it.
Can I delete every page in the document?
No. At least one page must remain in the final file — PDFBell disables the Delete Pages button if your selection would remove every page.
Can I undo a page selection before deleting?
Yes. Click a selected thumbnail again to deselect it, or clear your whole selection — nothing is removed from the file until you click Delete Pages.
Are the deleted pages really gone from the file?
They are gone from the page list, so no PDF viewer will show them, but the file is not rewritten to purge their data and it may still be physically present. If the pages contain something sensitive, use Extract PDF Pages to build a fresh file from the pages you want to keep.
I want to keep a few pages, not remove many. What should I use?
