What do I get when WebP images become a PDF?
WebP is the format you end up holding after saving pictures from the web, and some desktop programs and upload forms still do not take it. This page decodes each WebP and puts it on its own PDF page, so you end up with one document instead of a folder of files that some apps cannot open.
The decoding is done by your browser, not by a library bundled here. Each file is loaded as an image, drawn once onto a canvas at its own width and height, and turned into a lossless PNG before the PDF is assembled. Two consequences follow. A browser that cannot decode a particular WebP will make the tool report that the file could not be decoded as an image. And since a PDF page holds one still picture, an animated WebP is reduced to a single drawn image, with no choice of frame offered.

How to convert WebP to PDF

WebP to PDF limits and edge cases
- Up to 40 WebP files per PDF; files past the 40th are dropped with a notice.
- Decoding relies on your browser's own WebP support. If it cannot decode a file, the run stops with a 'could not be decoded as an image' error instead of skipping the file.
- Each WebP is redrawn on a canvas at its own pixel size and saved as a lossless PNG before it goes into the PDF. A small lossy WebP can therefore produce a noticeably larger PDF than the file you started with.
- Animated WebP files are not handled specially: the tool draws the image to a canvas once, so a PDF page can only ever show one still, and there is no way to choose which frame.
- Transparency survives the conversion unless you switch on 'Fill transparent background with white'. The fill is white only and applies to every page in the run.

Why does my PDF come out larger than the WebP files?
WebP is usually stored with heavy compression. This tool decodes the pixels and re-saves them losslessly as PNG before building the PDF, so the document can be considerably bigger than the sum of the originals.
Will an animated WebP play inside the PDF?
No. A PDF page shows a single still image and this tool draws each file to a canvas once. It has no frame picker, so export the exact frame you want as a still first if it matters.
What if my browser cannot open one of the files?
Because the browser does the decoding, the conversion stops with an error that the file could not be decoded as an image. Try a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, or re-save the file in a different format.
Does the PDF keep the transparent parts of my WebP?
Yes by default. Turn on the white fill option before converting if you want those areas flattened to white instead.
Can I combine WebP with JPG or PNG in one go?
Not here: this queue accepts WebP only. JPG to PDF takes JPG and PNG together.
