PDF to PNG limits and edge cases
- Each page becomes a flat picture. The text in a PNG is no longer selectable or searchable, and links in the PDF do not work.
- Pages are rendered at 72, 150 or 300 DPI. Very large page formats at 300 DPI need a very large canvas, which some browsers, especially on phones, cannot allocate. Lower the DPI if a conversion fails.
- Pages are converted one after another in your browser. A long document at 300 DPI takes correspondingly longer and uses more memory, so convert a page range in batches if the tab slows down.
- The page range accepts numbers and ranges separated by commas, such as "1-3, 5". Leave it blank for every page; a page number beyond the last page is rejected.
- One selected page downloads as a single PNG. Two or more are bundled into one ZIP, with entries named after your file and the page number.
- A PDF that needs a password to open is rejected with a message asking you to remove the password. PDFs that only carry owner restrictions (no password to open) work here, since the pages are only read, not rewritten.
