PDF to JPG limits and edge cases
- JPG is lossy. A lower quality setting gives a smaller file but visible artifacts around text and thin lines, and JPG has no transparency.
- Each page becomes a flat picture: the text is no longer selectable or searchable, and links in the PDF do not work.
- Pages are rendered at 72, 150 or 300 DPI. Very large page formats at 300 DPI need a very large canvas, which some browsers, especially on phones, cannot allocate. Lower the DPI if a conversion fails.
- The page range accepts numbers and ranges separated by commas, such as "1-3, 5". Leave it blank for every page; a page number beyond the last page is rejected.
- One selected page downloads as a single JPG. Two or more are bundled into one ZIP, with entries named after your file and the page number.
- A PDF that needs a password to open is rejected with a message asking you to remove the password. PDFs that only carry owner restrictions (no password to open) work here, since the pages are only read, not rewritten.
