How does rotating a PDF work?

Rotate PDF limits and edge cases
- Rotation is added to each page's current rotation. A page that is already turned 90° and rotated by 90° again ends up at 180°, so the angle you pick is a change, not an absolute orientation.
- Only quarter turns are offered: 90°, 180° or 270° clockwise. Slightly crooked scans are not straightened.
- The page's content is not redrawn; the tool sets the page's rotation. Text stays selectable and file size is essentially unchanged.
- The range field accepts page numbers and ranges separated by commas, such as "2, 5-7". A page number beyond the last page is rejected.
- A PDF that needs a password to open is rejected. A PDF that opens without a password but carries editing restrictions (a permissions password) is also refused with a clear message, because PDFBell cannot decrypt files and the rotated copy would come out blank or unreadable; remove the restriction in the app that created it, then try again.
Frequently asked questions
Can I rotate just some pages instead of the whole document?
Yes. Switch “Apply to” to Page range and type the pages you want rotated, like “2, 5-7” — every other page stays as it was.
What's the difference between 90°, 180°, and 270°?
All three turn the page clockwise: 90° is a quarter-turn, 180° flips it upside down, and 270° is a quarter-turn the other way round (the same as 90° counter-clockwise).
What happens if a page is already rotated?
The new angle is added to the page's existing rotation. A page that already carries a 90° rotation and is rotated by 90° again ends at 180°.
Does rotating change the number of pages?
No. Rotating only changes each page's orientation — every page you started with is still in the final file, in the same order.
I need to reorder pages too, not just rotate them — what should I use?
